SWE "Turbulence" - May 31st 2014

On the last weekend of May, the very first SWE show took place near Bern, Switzerland.
Swiss Wrestling Entertainment is a brand new Swiss Wrestling league, featuring not only talent from Switzerland, but from all over Europe. Next to seeing four wrestlers well known from the NEW, we were especially anticipating to see the talent our dear neighboring country can provide. For people able to speak German, here's a link to the SWE homepage.
As stated above, Turbulence was the first SWE show, and thus a show in which the first champions had to be crowned!

Drake Destroyer vs. The Hellvetic Warrior - Championship Qualification Match
The very first match of the evening was a rather meaningful one, for the winner of the match would be part of the main event Triple-Threat-Match for the SWE Championship title. The contestants were the Swiss original The Hellvetic Warrior - easily detected as the crowd's favorite - and the Italian-born Drake Destroyer.
After a slow start, the match soon gained in speed, turning into a brawl in which the Warrior's smaller build should not prove as much of an disadvantage. Suddenly, at what seemed to be merely the middle of a heated match, an unknown music chimed through the area, distracting everyone involved in the match enough for Drake Destroyer to capitalize, executing his finishing maneuver on The Hellvetic Warrior after a low blow.
Thus, Drake Destroyer was the first man to enter the final battle for the SWE Championship.

Calvin Carter vs. Ca$h Cra$h vs. Jay Cruise vs. Scotty Saxon - Fatal-4-Way Championship Qualification Match
The second match was a qualification match for the SWE Championship as well, but instead of a singles match, the four contestants of different nations faced each other in a Fatal-4-Way match.
Despite the German Scotty Saxon being the one with the most muscle and powerful move set, in the end the NEW veteran stood no chance against the swift and agile high flying actions of his three Swiss opponents. Jay Cruise, maybe considered the lightest of the bunch, didn't manage to capitalize on the heated mood in between former tag team partners and likewise eager rivals Ca$h Cra$h and Calvin Carter. It was Carter who, in the end, kept a level head to stand over his aversions against the loud mouthed Ca$h Cra$h - an attitude that gained him the well deserved victory and thus a place in the SWE Championship Match!

Pascal Spalter def. Demolition Davies - Championship Qualification Match
The last qualifying match was fought between two wrestlers that are not unknown to the German-speaking world. Demolishion Davies - heaviest wrestler Germany's and the man who had the honor to beat up one of the country's most controversially taken entertainers - was facing Pascal Spalter - known not only from NEW and GWF, but also from the television series "Berlin Tag und Nacht".
Despite their apparent size and weight, both men delivered a unexpectedly fast-paced match, not showing mercy to one another. In the end, it was the so-called "hero of the capitol" who got the victory over Demolishion Davies. The third and last contestant for the Championship Match had been chosen.

Maik Tuga & Fritz Schmid vs Nacho Libres - Tag Team Championship Match
The match following the short break was the first one to determine the very first Champions for the SWE, namely the SWE Tag Team Champions. After Marty Scurll couldn't compete due to an injury, it had been a mystery of who would be the partner of Maik Tuga against the Mexican Nacho Libres. As soon as the announcement was made, many people in the room - Tuga included - wished they would have never found out. Joining the Portuguese native was another masked wrestler, hailing from the rivaled city Basel - and surely making no pretense of his disgust towards the city of Bern.
During the match up, after he had suffered a serious beating from both Sancho and Pancho, Fritz Schmid denied the tag to his partner Tuga, literally leaving him standing alone in the ring. In a sign of great respect and sportsmanship, the Nacho Libres decided to give Tuga a fair chance, determining which one of them would continue the match by a little game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Thus, it was Pancho who faced Tuga for the titles now, and after a match full of high flying action and beautifully delivered maneuvers, Tuga could stand victorious over his masked opponent.
Thus, the new and first SWE Tag Team Champions, are Maik Tuga and his chosen partner Marty Scurll!

Liberty vs. Lady Penelope vs. Layla Rose - Triple-Threat Match
Bathroom break? No, certainly not! When the both "Englishwomen" Liberty and Lady Penelope stepped into the ring with the Swiss gothic girl Layla Rose, eyes were glued to the ring for one simple reason: women's wrestling at it's best!
Following a strategy that should put the numbers game into their advantage, Liberty and Lady Penelope attacked the physically stronger Layla Rose with technically refined tag team moves until they came to realization that not both of them could execute the pin. Afterwards, it was every woman for herself. Especially a high risk maneuver of Lady Penelope as she jumped over the top rope and right into both her opponents outside the ring should stick out in this match. In the end, it was Liberty - the current Bellatrix World Champion - who stood victorious.

Calvin Carter vs. Pascal Spalter vs. Drake Destroyer - Triple-Threat Elimination SWE Championship Match
The main event of the evening featured the winners of the first three matches. Drake Destroyer, Pascal Spalter, and Calvin Carter faced off in a Triple-Threat Match for the SWE Championship title.
At first, it seemed like an unfair equation in which Calvin Carter faced two men physically bigger and stronger than him. Spalter and Destroyer noticed this as well though, of course trying to eliminate the "stronger" opponent first. To get rid of Spalter, Destroyer stooped to a low level by fetching a steel chair from underneath the ring. He took the opportunity of the referee being distracted by checking on Carter, pushing the chair in Spalter's hands, and pretending to be hit by the German wrestler. Thus, Spalter got disqualified from the match.
Despite the advantage Destroyer seemed to get by this foul maneuver, it was Calvin Carter who decided the match in his favor. With a roll up, following a Superkick, the Swiss cruiser weight got the victory over Drake Destroyer, becoming the very first SWE Champion!
